#1: The Progress Report

Welcome to The Progress Report - a blog where I will document my honest thoughts about where I'm at and where I'd like to go with this whole endeavor. Of course, I'll add a few other unique things in here as well, but intend to use this digital journal mostly as a success gauge with my art goals going forward. 

For starters, what am I doing with this website? If you're reading this, I've finally taught myself enough to get something up and running. Bit of a daunting experience really. Shopify isn't the easiest to figure out for someone who has never designed a website, and I feel rather silly paying for something that isn't bringing me in any regular profit. Thankfully, a few commissions over the past month have given me just enough to feel ok with the financial risk, albeit small. 

Still need to figure out prints and merch. Lots of people have inquired about buying prints or getting one of the designs on a shirt. While I post mockups, that still is a work in progress and it's hard to decide what option is best when every YouTube video has a different opinion on how to print/sell. 

I also am pretty excited to have my second collab in a row with an actual hockey team. Thanks to a cold email, I've gotten in touch with a D1 school that has agreed to a design for their upcoming playoff game. They've gone quiet since accepting, so I'm crossing my fingers that they don't back out. Down the road, I'd love to be able to draw more game day illustrations. Pretty happy after getting the opportunity to draw for a D3 and D1 team in back to back weeks.
